Lady Lucy’s Quest Series Second Editions Arriving Fall 2025 and Winter 26
(Salem, MA – Oct. 15 ) — Educator, author and artist Karen Gross is releasing the second, updated editions of her timely, well-illustrated children’s book series, Lady Lucy’s Quest. This trauma-sensitive series (already read by over 3,000 young people) follows the life of Lucy, a young girl in the Middle Ages, who wants to become a Knight.
After achieving her goal despite plentiful hurdles, Lucy continues to face a myriad of challenges as a Knight. With the help of animal friends, including Dillon, a water-breathing dragon, and Tapestry, a timid but thoughtful unicorn, she solves the problems within her Kingdom and beyond, with her journeys taking her to lands near and far.
The books in the series are structured so children can guess at every turn whether and how Lucy will overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. While set in Medieval times, the story addresses contemporary social issues including discrimination, family dysfunction, droughts, damaging illness, and debilitating ghosts and allows children to read about plentiful emotions including fear, anger, separation, anxiety, and isolation.
Join Lucy and her friends on quests in this now seven-book series, with more to come! These books are “read to, read by and read with” children ages 5 — 10, and are filled with interesting language tropes including plentiful alliteration. There is also an accompanying website containing (1) questions for readers to consider while and after the stories finish,(2) relevant Middle Age history and (3) puzzles/coloring pages that continue the series’ themes. Several of the books appear in Spanish and can be used in homes and schools (including for K-12 language learners of both English and Spanish).
The second edition of Lady Lucy Series books feature AI illustrations created with OpenArt.al and Canva Magic Write.
