Boynton Beach, Fla., February 3, 2019 — Who doesn’t love a secret – telling one, or keeping one? Secrets are normally something you keep to yourself or within your special group – like a club.

But that’s not the case for author, Joseph Cook. His series of children’s picture books invites readers to join a secret club whose members are taken on exciting adventures that introduce children to concepts such as how to plan, how to save money, and when to display good manners and respect adults.

“Each time The Secret Club goes on an adventure it’s a teaching opportunity,” said Cook. “Children learn that in order to go on a trip or adventure, they will need to plan several things. They need to calculate the cost, obtain permission from parents, think about how to get there, check schedules and participate in other organizational tasks.”

Cook began writing the series in 2015 with the first book called, The Secret Club. He followed with The Secret Club Visits the Zoo (2016) and The Secret Club Visits the Art Museum (2017).

“As children, my sister and I created the Secret Club. We used our imaginations in the same manner as the children in the book. We have continued to promote this play-act for our children and grandchildren,” said Cook.

The book is illustrated by Maria Paula Fonseca, a native of Bogotá, Colombia.

Children reading the books will learn the following concepts: Cooperation, creativity, honesty, kindness, leadership, manners, organization, patience, respect, and saving.
