LONDON & PARIS — Step into the fog-shrouded streets of 1908 London and the vibrant quarters of Paris in A Case of Considerable Consequence, an exhilarating Young Adult historical mystery by author Tina Koenig. Published by Prima Donna Press, this fast-paced adventure weaves together secret identities, political movements, and high-seas danger in a tale where nothing is quite as it seems.
When thirteen-year-old Lavender Pearl—heiress to the vast Blackwick-Pearl tea fortune—is hidden away in Paris following the mysterious disappearance of her parents in Egypt, she refuses to believe they are gone. Disguised as a boy and sporting a shock of white hair brought on by shock, Lavender takes matters into her own hands. Armed with an artistic eye and a penchant for clever codes, she reaches out to London’s most famous investigator, the sharp and unconventional Archer Marbury.
Joined by her fiercely independent, suffragist governess, Miss Eliza Fitzmitten, and Marbury’s pragmatic partner, Lord William Shadforth, Lavender is thrust into a maze of intrigue. From secretive packages delivered to a basement agency called The Blind Bat to heart-pounding encounters with escaped zoo lions and covert shipping plots in Dover, the team must unravel the mystery before Lavender is forced onto a perilous Antarctic voyage aboard her eccentric uncle’s research vessel.
Rich in historical detail and packed with sharp wit, A Case of Considerable Consequence features a courageous young heroine, vibrant characters, and a plot that will keep young adult readers guessing until the very end.
